Automotive Service Manager

Job Description

Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in the automotive service industry.
  • Professional certifications in automotive management or service operations are a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, maintenance procedures, and repair operations.
  • Proficiency in using service management software and diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost control, and inventory management in a service department.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and improve service efficiency.

Requirements:

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Service Manager, Workshop Manager, or similar role in an automotive service environment.
  • Experience managing a team of service technicians and support staff.
  • Track record of improving service quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of modern vehicle systems (including hybrid/electric vehicles) is a plus.
  • Ability to handle customer complaints and ensure high service standards.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Service Operations Management

  • Oversee daily operations of the service department, ensuring timely and quality service delivery.
  • Plan, schedule, and allocate work for service technicians and support staff.
  • Maintain service standards and ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, train, and motivate service technicians to achieve departmental goals.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing inquiries, complaints, and service concerns.
  • Develop strategies to enhance customer loyalty and retention.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Monitor service performance metrics, generate reports, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage inventory, spare parts, and service budgets efficiently.
